NESTING BIRDS AT ISO-CHEMIE

Last Autumn, we joined forces with NABU Aalen e.V. to put up twelve nest boxes in our company grounds. The first blue tits and redstarts have now hatched their broods.

In summer 2019, we launched a local sustainability initiative as part of our company expansion. With these artificial nests we are making an important contribution to species conservation, which is in line with our intention to act sustainably. We already have several wildflower meadows, an insect hotel and two beehives on our company’s green roof to demonstrate our commitment to local insect conservation.

With twelve bird nest boxes and one bat box, we have now taken further steps towards strengthening the diversity of species and biodiversity at our headquarters in Aalen. It is not just NABU Aalen e.V. that has been on hand with help and advice; our employees have themselves given enthusiastic support to these sustainability projects.

CEO Dr Martin Deiß emphasised, “Since ISO-Chemie was established over 40 years ago, we have been committed to acting responsibly towards people and nature. And these are more than just empty words – we act!” Dr Deiß explains, “With the bird nest boxes installed on our company property in Röntgenstraße, we have created important breeding aids for threatened species, and are delighted to see that the first broods have already fledged. We are eagerly anticipating seeing our bat box being used as a day roost next summer.”

The new three-storey warehouse and production hall was recently completed in Röntgenstraße, Aalen. That concludes the first construction phase of the planned company expansion. According to Dr Deiß, “This 50 million Euro investment in new buildings and equipment is breaking new ground in terms of power consumption and environmental balance.” He continues,  “With our sustainability projects here in the company grounds, we aim to set a good example and assume responsibility for creating a future worth living for the next generations.”

As a manufacturer of energy-efficient sealing solutions, we clearly recognise the need to continuously reduce our energy consumption. So, for example, the photovoltaic panels on the roof of the existing building help to greatly reduce the company’s carbon footprint. This system will allow the company to produce around 1/5 of its own power consumption every year on average. As a company with ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certification, we also check our products and procedures for their environmental sustainability and sustainable effect.
