Stricter requirements
The current Building Energy Act (GEG) and the EU Buildings Directive (EPBD) require permanently airtight building envelopes, with the EPBD even making zero-emission buildings the standard for new buildings. This goal cannot be achieved without high-performance joint sealing systems, as significant heat loss occurs through leaky connection points in the facade.
At the same time, product standard DIN 18542:2020 defines high minimum requirements for multifunctional tapes in stress groups MF1 and MF2. According to this standard, multifunctional tapes must reliably guarantee their promised values for driving rain and air tightness even at the largest joint width and smallest cut width.
Greater risks
Untight joints cause up to 40% heat loss and significantly increase heating energy requirements. In addition, leaks and seepage promote the formation of condensation and the infiltration of rainwater, which can result in moisture damage and mold. Furthermore, there is a risk of costly repairs due to warranty claims and the loss of subsidies.

HYFI technology sets new standards in joint sealing with multi-layer foil firewalls that are integrated directly into the sealing tape – without any separate bonding. This means there are no gaps, no installation errors, and no weak points in the building envelope. The best thing about it is that there is no need to change the installation procedure. The new HYFI-TECH multifunctional tapes are installed in exactly the same way as the previous materials. This saves considerable conversion time and queries and ensures high installation quality.

What does the principle “tighter inside than outside” mean?
When installing windows and doors, it is crucial that the connection to the building structure is permanently windproof, rainproof, and provides heat and sound insulation. The RAL “Installation Guide” provides a simple but effective basic principle for this.
Denser on the inside than on the outside – why?
The connection joint between the window frame and the wall must fulfill three functions:
- Internal sealing – prevents warm, humid air from entering the joint.
- Heat and sound insulation – is located in the middle and keeps energy inside the house.
- External sealing – protects against wind and rain, but allows water vapor to escape to the outside.
Does HYFI-TECH replace separate films?
In many applications, yes—tape + film firewall in one product reduces work steps and risks.
Is HYFI-TECH suitable for renovations?
Yes. HYFI technology supports airtightness and reduces heat loss, particularly in energy-efficient renovations.
